Medieval Corsica

Corsica in the Middle Ages has its own history.

Extensive archaeological excavations in Corsica have been taking place for a long time. Now the results of the many campaigns have been summarized in an excellent publication, which aims to give an overview of the political, economic and religious history of the island.

Focus is on Corsica caught in the middle of the great powers of The Mediterranean, the introduction of Christianity, life in early and later Medieval Corsica as well as the economic consequences of  trade and warfare. Finally chapters focus on late Medieval Corsica caught between Pisa, Genoa and Aragon as well as the Military organization.

The book, written in French for students and beautifully illustrated,  can be freely downloaded.
