The International Conference ‘The Religious Aspects of War’ covers the Mediterranean World in Antiquity and the Middle Ages
Papers are called for a conference entitled ‘The Religious Aspects of War’, covering the Mediterranean world in Antiquity and in the Middle Ages, which will take place over 16-18 May 2014 in ‘Faktoria’(www.faktoria-pruszcz.pl), a reconstruction of a trade village from the Roman Period in Pruszcz Gdański, twenty minutes drive away from the centre of Gdansk, Poland. Best access is via Gdańsk airport (www.airport.gdansk.pl).
Proposals for communications lasting 20 min. (accompanied by an abstract of max. 250 words) to be sent to religiousaspectsofwar@gmail.com by 20 February. Selection of the papers for inclusion in the conference is to be confirmed by 1 March. The preferred conference language is English.
The conference fee will be 340 PLN (=80 Euros) which is to cover the costs of a wine reception prior to the conference on the Thursday, conference dinner, conference materials, coffee breaks etc., and the publication of the proceedings after the conference.
Accommodation will be in the Hotel Chopin (http://www.hotelchopin.gda.pl) at the following special rates, negotiated for conference participants. Prices include an optional visit to the fortress seat of the Knights of the Teutonic Order at Malbork on Sunday 18 May.
All prices are quoted are in Polish złoties (PLN).
