Pallia is run by a professional archaeologist involved in the business of archaeological textile reconstruction
Pallia is a website with news about textile archaeology as well as a shop where tools and materials can be had – on offer are plant-dyed silks, flat gold strips, weaving tablets and much more. Dr. Katrin Kania, who owns the site, shop and blog, also organises conferences and courses. She also makes her living as a textile consultant to museums in search of proper medieval reconstructions of clothes for guides and staff.
Part of the lure of the site is the blog, which has been constantly updated since December 2008 with lots of tips for the dedicated “Living Historian” as well as recipes for mouth-watering medieval or just traditional dishes
But Dr. Katrin Kania is also a professional archaeologist active in the organisation of the European Textile Forum as well as author of and contributor to a couple of new “must-have” books for reenactors:
