Late Medieval Piety

O Death, where is thy sting?

Piety in late medieval daily life is the theme of a major exhibition running all the way through to February 2015 in Mühlhausen and later Leipzig and Magdeburg. According to the curators the exhibition is meant to shed light on the widespread piety, which characterized life in the waning of the Middle Ages; a piety which was later totally discarded by the historians writing about the reformation in the 16th century and the changes incurred by this. The exhibition is part of the events staged in connection with the so-called Luther-decade, an initiative leading up to the celebration of the Lutheran reformation in 1517.
