Medieval History, Rhodes College, Memphis Tennessee
The Department of History at Rhodes College invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in medieval history at the rank of assistant professor, beginning in August 2014. All areas of specialization pre-1500 are welcome. The department seeks applications from individuals whose interests go beyond traditional geographic, methodological, and thematic disciplinary boundaries. PhD by August 2014 is expected.
Applicants should be committed to undergraduate teaching and professional scholarship. Teaching load is five courses each year, normally consisting of surveys and seminars in medieval history, as well as courses in the college’s interdisciplinary humanities program, The Search for Values in Light of Western Civilization: http://www.rhodes.edu/academics/9085.asp. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. In addition, faculty development money, travel funds, and an attractive benefits package are included.
